First you need a microsoft x box video game console. You can probably find an x box for sale at ebay for around 70€. It needs to be modified - you will probably need a modified save game and the game Splinter Cell. I will not go into all the details here - just google your way on how to modify your XBox.
So what's a plugin and how do I use it?
"A plugin source is a special type of source that is powered by a python script automatically run by XBMC. A plugin source is typically used to represent the online content of a website as a hierarchical file system.
XBMC supports 3 types of plugin sources: video, music, and pictures. Plugins are placed in the "plugins\<type of media>" folder within the XBMC folder.
Plugin sources can automatically be added from within XBMC via the "Add Source" command accessible from the root folder of "Videos", "Music", and "Pictures". The actual file that is invoked by XBMC is "plugins\<type of media>\<name of plugin>\default.py". This file must be present for the plugin to show up in "Add Source" the dialog." (Source: XBMC Wiki )
Upgrade to the latest XBMC SVN release
It might be necessary for you to upgrade the XBMC version on your x box game console to the
latest T3CH XBMC SVN version. Please google for the uppercase letters.
You'll find that as a download, I'm pretty sure.
Common pitfalls
Don't try to add it as a normal file by browsing your harddrive for the plugins folder. Instead, after choosing "Add source", select "{Video|Music} Plugins" and then the plugin you want to add as a source. You can even add subfolders. For example, if you want only the comedy section of Apple Movie Trailers to show up as a source, browse to that virtual "subfolder" of the Apple Movie Trailers Plugin.
Python script/plugin confusion
Also, please do not confuse plugins with scripts. Unlike the old python scirpts, these are not meant to be directly invoked by the user. Instead, they are automatically invoked when the user enters such a virtual folder. Do not try to run these files from the scripts window - this will only give you some weird error message.
Be nice, report the bugs, be nice
If you want to report bugs for any of the plugins, please go to the thread on the xboxmediacenter forum and ask for help in the plugin-specific thread. Please check if the media source that doesn't want to play on your xbox works in an ordinary browser on your PC. If it doesn't work there, it's probably down for some reason. There's nothing we can do about it. Also, please always specify the exact TV show (season, episode) you're having problems with. If you're really cool, you look in the scripts window of XBMC (yes, the error messages can usually be found there, even if it's not a REAL script ;) ). Press white button and choose debug log (Pad) or press the info button on the remote. Please watch this log for error messages and supply them, if any.
How to add plugins - video
Here is a video showing how to add a plugin as a source. I annotated the video to give you some information on what I'm doing there. You can watch a version with better quality here .
Demonstration video
Here is a video of Apple Movie Trailers plugin and the (outdated) TVLinks plugin, give the video 30 seconds. Before the video plugins are demonstrated, the trainer system is shown:
